Intro to Music Video Blog

Today is November 14th, 2019. Today I was not here in class to do the lesson but I was able to get some notes and ideas of what we are starting next. The next project we are doing is a Music Video. We added a new people into our group to help with the project ( I'm guessing ). I know that we have another blog due next class And i think it's the Planning blog. Since there's 3 people in the group, we can film more raw footage. Also the Music video is now 1 minute and 5 seconds to a 1 minute and 15 seconds. We still have to choose the song because my group is just lost without me. The song has to be appropriate for school and can not have crude things in them. We have multiple ideas but that's not where we actually wanted to be right now. (Update - We have updated our song from Lil Tecca's Ransom to Xxxtentacion's SAD!).

Sounds that Music Videos have are the songs themselves. Some Music Videos start out with a skit that would make no sense to the video itself. Music Videos such as PSY's "Gangnam Style" can feature actors or just random people off the street. Dancing in a Music Video is common because there's nothing else in the video to do. Maybe some lip syncing but that's only for a few seconds before the camera moves into a new scene. But songs also can set the mood on how the Music Video is Like Drake's "God's Plan" makes the viewer in the mood to do something good today. Or like Drake's "In My Feelings" that makes you want to dance as well. They can also set some trends on social media with dancing challenges. There's always new ones everyday as well with new songs. It sets how and what the viewer can do while watching the video.

Music Videos use all type of shots like two people shots for love songs, action and everyday things that humans do. Music videos are maybe the easiest thing you can edit on a editing software. It's just clips with the song playing in the background. Editing music videos also can be like editing a commercial. They both require a lot of different cuts such as jump cuts, hard cuts, J cuts to have a nice transition between scenes. Some music video use animation with live action and that's some next level editing right there. Lights for scenes are also important for editing because it can also set the mood for the song and for the viewer. Darker themes are more for emotional songs and lighter themes are for bass dropping, mood swinging with joy and "getting lit" moods. We'll see what my editing can do for my Music Video. Once we can get the song, we can start getting "lit" ourselves.
