Editing Blog Nike Commerical

Today is October 28th, 2019. I am currently in editing mode with the raw film footage. I had inserted my own micro SD card into my computer. After I have inserted my micro SD card into my computer, I've gone into the Card's folder. There was a folder called "DCIM" on the computer where all the files of the footage was. After clicking that folder there's a sub-folder called "194_1024." The 1024 stands for the date it was taken ( which was October 24th ). I clicked and dragged the the sub-folder "194_1024" onto my computer's desktop.  After that, I opened Google Drive and uploaded the folder there so the the files could be on the 3 different platforms. After that, I was ready to edit the footage(s).

The editing process was actually in a nut shell. Pinnacle Studios on the school computer was not working. I did not know the actual cause of this problem. I can infer that these computer are too late to run an editing software. Those computers are on Windows XP running Windows 10 . That's a 14 year difference on the software. I don't even know how the school installed the newest software even on a 14 year old computer. It's actually pretty impressive when I think of it again. Pinnacle Studio might work on a laptop but not these old desktops. Maybe I'll just install Pinnacle Studios on laptop so I can edit myself with no problems.

Since Pinnacle Studios won't on the school's computer I have a backup plan. Sony Vegas Pro 15. It's an editing software available on Windows  7,8, or 10. I have it installed on my computer ( the same one I'm typing this from) so I can start editing right away. If Sony Vegas Pro 15 fails to work on my computer, I also have a plan C. Adobe After Effect 2018 or Adobe Premiere Pro 2019. I have Adobe After Effects 2018 installed on this computer as an editing backup or to make effects in the editing process. Adobe Premiere Pro 2019 is also on my desktop at home so I have 3 different places I can edit my footage ( 2 if Pinnacle Studios isn't working still). My computer will be way more reliable than my desktop or the school's computer. No one's uses my computer anyways so that's always a good thing.

Filming Blog Nike Commercial

Today is October 25th, 219. On October 24th, 2019, me and my partner we're getting ready to film. I had brought the main prop of the blue Nike cleats in a book bag. Me and my partner had gotten a football from a football coach at our school. While walking to the field, I was catching some left handed passes thrown by my partner.when we reached the football field, I got out my Nike cleats from my book bag. I had also pulled out a Nike Vikings jersey which was used for another scene. I threw a couple of passes to my partner to get the feel of throwing a football after a while. After throwing some passes, I also catch some passes thrown my way as well. After all of that throwing practice with the football, I was set up to film the first scene.

In the 1st scene, I was the camera man. I filmed my partner going backwards showing off his jersey. I had to film that scene a couple more times because my partner would mess up the ending. During the 1st scene, the camera was stationary meaning it's on its own tripod. I had pressed a red button to start the recording and pressed it again to stop it. The 2nd scene wasn't recorded by me because I was a non-factor for that part. The 3rd scene was recorded by me. The camera was loosen so that I can record this you moving from left to right. After the 3rd scene, I moved from being the cameraman to being an actor. I had a difficult job to from being an actor and the cameraman at the same time.

In the 4th scene I started as the cameraman. I had to hit the record button and my time as a cameraman was up. I rushed to the left side or away from the camera to go to the ball and place of the scene. As I hike the ball I quickly released the ball as soon as I touched it. I smiled after the play and the throw. In 5th scene I was the defender. As the defender, I was quickly passed by my partner ( who was my opponent at the time) and after that I was no longer an actor anymore. I switched back to being a cameraman for the last scene. The last scene was filmed on the tripod then was taken off the tripod for the "Toe Drag Swag" scene. I rushed quickly with the camera in hand to see the toes dragged across the sidelines and a celebration all on film with the camera. It was a good day of filming as an actor and an cameraman.

Storyboard Blog Nike Commercial

Today is October 22nd, 2019.  My partner and I are planning out how we are going to do the Nike Commercial. We had to have at least 25-30 seconds in the Commercial. Every Block for the pictures is 5 seconds each. We are planning to have 30 seconds because he have 6 blocks of pictures. After the completion of the storyboard, we will have to get it approved to begin filming. After getting it approved the 6 blocks shown above will be in the film. If the blocks isn't approved then we can not do the commercial.

List of Angles used during the Storyboard. In the first block, the actor is in a medium long shot. It's showing his jersey ( which is number 86 of the Philadelphia Eagles). The 2nd block is a a close up of the shoe that will be show cased in the commercial. The 3rd block is a long shot of the actor picking up the shoes and about to put those shoes on. The 4th block has a two angles shots in the scene. Over the shoulder and a 2 shot while both of the actors are lined up against each other. The 5th block is the the same 2 shot, with a catch being involved on the play. The last block has a close up shot of the "Toe Drag Swag." It's a football move that requires great awareness and skill while catching the ball and keeping your feet in the play area.  We will use at least 4 shots during the commercial.

Camera movements are Tracking shots and Zoom. The tracking shot will be filmed in the entire commercial. The two actors will be moving/running the whole film. The Zoom movement will be used during the close shots ( Toe Drag Swag Film ). Editing will be on the software Sony Vegas Pro 15. We will be using cutaway to show you the Toe Drag Swag during the catch. Eye-line shot match will cut away from the actor to the shoes. Graphic Match will be used throughout the whole film to match the shots. Action Match will be used for the to connect all of the action during the Catch. Jump shot will be used to show the the passing of time during the actor putting on the shoes in a shot.

Editing Lesson Blog, Nike Commercial

Today is October 14th, 2019. The whole class learning about the editing process of the project and what we needed to do in do in order the keep the cameras safe. The program we will use to edit is Sony Vegas 15. It's going to be my preferred editing software because I've been using Sony Vegas  for almost 2 years. Sony Vegas is the software that editors love to use because it's so easy to work on. I will be using Sony Vegas on my own computer on to do the editing of the Nike commercial now. I must use my own computer all the time because it's the only place where my files will be saved on. An alternate software i will use is Adobe After Effects just in case Sony Vegas is not working properly. Adobe After Effects is the same as Sony Vegas but it's used more by movie producers with more effects being in the software. Either way both software are good for the commercial I will be editing.
To what I learned today was editing on Pinnacle Studios. Editing on Pinnacle Studios is very similar to editing on Sony Vegas. First, i'll have to insert the micro SD card into my computer to get the raw film footage. The file on the micro SD card could be on two different folders. One folder is called the DCIM folder or the AVCHD folder. Next i'll have to create a folder on my desktop to separate other films from files on my computer. On Sony Vegas, I'll have to double click to open up the program. Then I'll have to go to File/Import/Media and search for my file. After I have imported my file on the software, i can eject my micro SD card on my card. After all of that can i can start editing on my commercial. The actual editing process is cake for me.
In the Right Panel it has a preview of the film. The bottom has the editing pieces that you'll need to use to complete editing. The bottom part of the software has two layers called the Video and the Audio track. To split from, there's a razor blade tool to cut the video and audio track in half. To separate the video and audio track so it'll have two separate layers is right clicked the track and select "separate." After that you can move each layer's freely without any problems. Transitions are found on the left panel under "plug-ins." You can adjust how fast or slow the transition after you drag and drop the effect. After I finished the the editing processing, I've have to export the file. I'll have to export the file as a MP4 file so I can complete the commercial.

Convention and Codes Blog

Today is October 7th, 2019. We are starting a project in AICE Media Studies. I have chosen Adrian as my partner to this project with. We had a list of topics from companies to start project that we could choose from. We ended up choosing Nike as the company to start our project on. The Nike Project will be a 25-30 second commercial that will be filmed on campus. With 3 weeks of time that we have, to film, edit, and produce the project with roughly about 7 classes to do this project so being productive and quick. Nike shows off all sports such as soccer and football making it one of the biggest sport brand in the world.

Common sounds in Nike commercial are voice overs and music from hit songs. Nike always take part of NBA Finals, The FIFA world cup and the Super Bowl commercials. Nike also take part in other events from sports and list quotes such as "believe in everything even if it means sacrificing everything." Common aspect of these commercials is that they have music that set the tone for the commercial. Songs such as Humble by Kendrick Lamar and Mo Bamba by Sheck Wes was used in the NBA Finals in 2017 and 2019. They also used different genres such as country and rock to also can set the moods in different sports commercials. It set the scene of what the energy can give off to the viewer.

Types of editing used in Nike commercial are jump cuts, hard cuts, J cuts, ect. Editing Software that that they use are Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas. Other editing software include Red Giant can be used in creating different lights such as dark lights and blue lights. Editing like this makes Nike commercial look crispy, making the viewer feel that he/her is in the commercial themselves. Another type of editing that they use is cross cut, which is parallel editing.  This is common, especially when the commercial is connecting with what the product is promoting. Nike would be the prefect choice for our group, making my editing skills to use. That's what we wanted to do all this time.

The Beginning of Media Studies

Welcome to my blog! My name is Alexis. I'm an 11th grader at Fort Lauderdale High School. I'm a 4 time Adobe Certificate all coming from the class Communication Technology. I have certifications in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and InDesign. I used to play Football for Junior Varsity in the summer of 2018. I had been an computer nerd for most of my life and want to be a computer engineering.

Starting from August of 2019, my school life have been wild. When I started school, I started out with classes that I wanted and some classes that I didn't. With 4 college classes in the same day, that can be one of the most stressful things in the world. Having 3 AICE AS Level classes and an AP class on top of that. It's manageable but with a lot of work starting to pile up, I have to start working harder for those passing grades in those classes. On the other days, I have two honors classes as well as a math class. I always hated math since Algebra I one was introduced to me in 8th grade. But other than that the school year have been okay for me.

Work wise, I'm doing good for my age and the grade I'm in. I work at a restaurant called Catfish Dewey's on Andrew's Ave. Currently I'm a dishwasher making a decent about of money for a teenager. I started working at Catfish Dewey's since February of 2019 and have not disappointed anyone at the restaurant. The employees there appreciate me because I'm quick and hard working. Working about now 11-13 hours a week, I can start to buy things that my parent's couldn't buy for me. Working at the restaurant is really good for me and gives me an idea of the "adult's life" taste at a younger age. Signing off.

Today is Thursday April 2nd, 2020. Today is just an off day. I woke up at 9. Left the house at 9:40. Took my skateboard with me and skat...
