Filming Blog. SAD! Music Video

Today is Monday, November 25th, 2019. We did not get to film over the weekend. It kind of sucks that we didn't at least get the cameras to start filming. On Thursday, we could of gotten a head start on our music video. Our teacher wasn't there for the day we could check out the cameras. Another teacher was there to give out the cameras but we didn't take one. I already was filling out the sheet so we can check it out but my group mates said they couldn't go. One of my group mates said that they had a personal arrangement with his family. That was yesterday when we were going to film. Now we have to film over the break when we have free time from school again.

On Friday November 22th, we could not film at all. Since I was going to be the camera man, I wouldn't and couldn't be there. I had work that day right after school so time was limited. My group mates was free though. They didn't have any work or anything important that Friday as well. For me work was a breeze for me. No one really was showing up and that's always a good thing. No big 35+ people parties coming in at 8 o'clock were in the building too. So because of that I got out of work early. 11 o'clock probably seems late but heck it's early me.

Saturday was the same thing as well. I had work and my group mates didn't have anything to do. Probably it would of been smart for them to film now that i think of it. I'm still the editor of the group so I still would have a role in that. Problem is that probably my group mates would do the project differently. What I can see during the filming process is me being the director of the whole music video which I have yet to see my group mates do yet. With this being the last video we make this year I'm going all out on editing. It's going to be the best one out of all of the music videos. Maybe I'll be closer to an unknown dream of mines but who knows? Maybe I do...but we'll see.

Storyboard Blog - SAD! Music Video

Today is November 20th, 2019. My and my group mates are just finished up the storyboard. It's for the SAD! Music Video. The Video should be at least 1 minute and 5 seconds to 1 minute and 15 seconds. Every block in the picture is about 5~6 seconds long. It varies by scene because 6 seconds on each block would make the video over the minimum time but 5 seconds makes the video just under the video by 5 seconds. Of course, we would have to get it approved to begin filming. After getting the storyboard approved we can of course start filming. I'm pretty sure it will get approved quickly because there's nothing bad about this video. Okay...death happens to everyone eventually but it's fake anyways.

Angles that we used in the storyboard would be an medium to long shot. In the 1st 3 scenes this happens. But the 3rd scene has a point of view shot of the phone ( when he's looking at some messages).  The 4th scene eye level ( from the mirror's view) and an over the shoulder shot/close up shot. the 5th scene is a long view with him going down the stairs and turns into a medium shot when it's done. The 6th scene is a long shot as well that stays as one. The 7th scene is actually a camera movement with a tracking shot because i'll be filming on a skateboard. That Tracking shot goes throughout the whole film until the 11th scene. The 11th scene changes from camera movements to angles again with a 2 people shot. This remands the angle for the rest of the. A lot more angles might be used but for Camera movement only the tracking shot will be used.

Editing this raw footage of the music video will be on Sony Vegas Pro 15. Editing for the Nike Commercial was easy so if it is not broke don't fix it. Action Match will be used when my group mate is on his bike and someone pops at of no where can makes him crash. Jump shot will be used to show the passing of time. A fade out will be used to finish out the song and the video. Some effect will be introduced into the editing process. Pin King tracking. On the 1st and 2nd scene you can see in the storyboard that their is words on the wall to the left. I will pin those same words on too the wall so that it can be in the video and stay on the wall (also a Graphic Match).  The sound is the song "SAD!" by Xxxtentacion. Costumes will be regular clothes. Lights are going to be the sun light. Acting is going to be done by my group mates ( so i do not even appear in the video at all this time). No make up is done ( fake blood doesn't count). Props are a skateboard, bike, bed and phone at this time. Setting is at a group mate's ( Adrian's) House.

Planning Blog - SAD! Music Video

Today is November 20th, 2019. Me and my two teammates are planning for the Music Video on Xxxtentacion's Song "Sad!". We have around 3 weeks to get the whole project to be finished so it should be a piece of cake. The Planning Blog is due 11/21 as well as the Storyboard Blog. Last class on the 18th of November, I had my teammate change the song of the Music Video because there was no ideas that could be created from that song. On the 19th, I didn't really do anything to progress on the project but kind of thought about some scenes we can do. The next couple of days I will not be doing anything on the project but I will try and get the camera ready so we can try and film on Sunday. That's the only day that I'm not busy on. Thursday, I just need a rest day and Friday and Saturday I have to go work so that's that.

We are going to be using a number of props in our video. A Skateboard, bike, bed, phone and fake blood is to name a few. The two transportation ( bike and skateboard) will be used in the filming and used to record film on. The bed and phone are part of a scene so really i can't expand more on that. The fake blood is also part of a scene I can't explain more of. Costumes...we really did not have plans to wear some because it would be just a casual music video. No expensive or special clothing is really needed for the Music Video. The costumes will probably be regular clothes that we wear at school/when we're go out to a place. The location will be at Adrian's House. We did not get really approved on that by His parent(s) but that's what we have planned out for now.

No one is sick at the time as of November 20th so we are all healthy. Safety for Me and my group mates is going to be when other cars pass by ME while I'm recording. The Sidewalk in Florida is not really big enough to have both a bike and a skateboard on the same sidewalk. Also the width of the bike make it harder to fit on the sidewalk. So incoming cars I'll have to wait for. The Schedule right now is iffy but we are subjected to change it. I've already stated that the next couple of days I will not be doing anything and probably my group mates are the same but on Sunday we will try to film with the equipment that we signed out for on Thursday. Monday and Tuesday we can either start to film or finish filming. After November 26th, we are not going to be doing nothing but editing and writing blogs about the this Music Video. So we hope all goes to plan with this process.

Intro to Music Video Blog

Today is November 14th, 2019. Today I was not here in class to do the lesson but I was able to get some notes and ideas of what we are starting next. The next project we are doing is a Music Video. We added a new people into our group to help with the project ( I'm guessing ). I know that we have another blog due next class And i think it's the Planning blog. Since there's 3 people in the group, we can film more raw footage. Also the Music video is now 1 minute and 5 seconds to a 1 minute and 15 seconds. We still have to choose the song because my group is just lost without me. The song has to be appropriate for school and can not have crude things in them. We have multiple ideas but that's not where we actually wanted to be right now. (Update - We have updated our song from Lil Tecca's Ransom to Xxxtentacion's SAD!).

Sounds that Music Videos have are the songs themselves. Some Music Videos start out with a skit that would make no sense to the video itself. Music Videos such as PSY's "Gangnam Style" can feature actors or just random people off the street. Dancing in a Music Video is common because there's nothing else in the video to do. Maybe some lip syncing but that's only for a few seconds before the camera moves into a new scene. But songs also can set the mood on how the Music Video is Like Drake's "God's Plan" makes the viewer in the mood to do something good today. Or like Drake's "In My Feelings" that makes you want to dance as well. They can also set some trends on social media with dancing challenges. There's always new ones everyday as well with new songs. It sets how and what the viewer can do while watching the video.

Music Videos use all type of shots like two people shots for love songs, action and everyday things that humans do. Music videos are maybe the easiest thing you can edit on a editing software. It's just clips with the song playing in the background. Editing music videos also can be like editing a commercial. They both require a lot of different cuts such as jump cuts, hard cuts, J cuts to have a nice transition between scenes. Some music video use animation with live action and that's some next level editing right there. Lights for scenes are also important for editing because it can also set the mood for the song and for the viewer. Darker themes are more for emotional songs and lighter themes are for bass dropping, mood swinging with joy and "getting lit" moods. We'll see what my editing can do for my Music Video. Once we can get the song, we can start getting "lit" ourselves.

Final Blog For Commercial

Today is November 6th 2019. Starting from November 5th, 2019, me and my partner started editing. The editing process is pretty easy so far. We already had our files set up into our computer. All we needed to do is open the program we're using and get to work. The program we're using as Sony Vegas 15. To start editing into the program, we had to drag the files onto the timeline. After that, we had to sort out the files we need in order of appearance. After sorting the files out, we had about one minute and 15 seconds of raw footage. We need to find a way to cut that all the way down to 30 seconds.

The first thing we do is delete parts of the videos. There was a clip of a video that was about 13 seconds long, so we look at the clip and see what was important. After we seen that around 4 seconds of the clip was important, we used the Split tool to cut the video in half. After cutting the video, we deleted that unused section of that clip. We did the same thing to another clip which was just around 10 seconds. Getting around 5 seconds of film we need and cutting the rest. After that clip, we had to do something with the very first clip. That first clip was an intro clip that was a very good idea the day we filmed it. But it wasn't the case anymore. That clip was deleted entirely from the timeline and commercial after we realize we didn't really need to clip at all. It saved us about a nice 5 seconds.

Now instead of splitting all the clips all together. We wanted to time-lapse a large 15 second clip into 4 seconds. The clip was from mostly motion and was re filmed at least 3 times before we got the scene right. To time-lapse a clip, you had to push effects ( EX ) on the video and the change the velocity of the video. Velocity in Sony Vegas just means how fast or slow a clip is going. Negative velocity means that the clip is going in reverse and positive means that the clip is going forward. We set the velocity at about 200%-275%. We did this to another clip in the film but ultimately we delete that clip because it was a waste of time ( literally). If we have enough time then we can keep playing around with some effects and see what we can do but for now we are still over the 30 second threshold. We still have around 5 days to keep editing before we have to submit our Nike Commercial!

Dying of Boredom, Editing Blog

Today is Thursday April 2nd, 2020. Today is just an off day. I woke up at 9. Left the house at 9:40. Took my skateboard with me and skat...
